These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Kroonen AI ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") regarding your use of the Libre Bot service at librebot.io (the "Service").

By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Libre Bot is an AI-powered documentation assistant that enables you to embed an intelligent chat widget on your website. The Service includes:

  • Document upload and processing (PDF, Markdown, text files)
  • AI-powered question answering based on your documentation
  • Embeddable chat widget with customizable styling
  • Usage analytics and monitoring
  • API access for programmatic integration

3. Account Registration

3.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. By registering, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. You agree to:

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Keep your API keys secure and not share them publicly
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

3.3 Account Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate.

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Free Trial

New accounts receive a 14-day free trial with access to basic features. After the trial period, you must subscribe to a paid plan to continue using the Service beyond the free tier limits.

4.2 Paid Plans

We offer multiple subscription tiers (Starter, Professional, Business, Enterprise) with varying features and usage limits. Plan details and pricing are available on our website.

4.3 Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance
  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis
  • Prices are subject to change with 30 days' notice

4.4 Refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your current billing period.

4.5 Usage Limits

Each plan includes specific limits on requests, sites, and documents. Exceeding these limits may result in service restrictions or require an upgrade to a higher tier.

5. Acceptable Use

5.1 Permitted Use

You may use the Service to:

  • Add AI-powered chat functionality to your documentation
  • Upload and process your own documentation content
  • Customize widget appearance and behavior
  • Access analytics about your widget usage

5.2 Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights
  • Distribute malware, spam, or harmful content through the widget
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or hack the Service
  • Use the Service for illegal purposes or in violation of any laws
  • Share API keys or allow unauthorized access to your account
  • Circumvent usage limits or rate limiting mechanisms
  • Use automated systems to abuse the Service
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Upload content that is defamatory, obscene, or harmful
  • Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Your Content

You retain all rights to the documents and content you upload to the Service. By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your content solely to provide the Service.

6.2 Our Service

The Service, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by Kroonen AI. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or other intellectual property.

6.3 Feedback

If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, we may use them without obligation to you.

7. AI-Generated Content and Regional Processing

7.1 Nature of AI Responses

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate responses based on your documentation. AI-generated content may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI outputs.

7.2 Regional AI Provider Routing

To comply with data protection regulations, we route AI requests based on the geographic location of the end user (your website visitor):

  • EU/EEA Visitors - Queries are processed by Mistral AI (Paris, France) to ensure GDPR compliance and EU data residency
  • Non-EU Visitors - Queries are processed by Anthropic (United States)

Location detection is performed automatically using IP geolocation. This routing ensures that EU visitors' data remains within the EU for AI processing.

7.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy

We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or appropriateness of AI-generated responses from any AI provider. The Service should not be relied upon for critical decisions without human verification.

7.4 Your Responsibility

You are responsible for the content your widget provides to your users and for any consequences of AI-generated responses on your website. This includes informing your users about the use of AI and the regional processing described above.

8. Privacy and Data

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

  • You are responsible for obtaining necessary consents from your users
  • You agree to provide appropriate privacy disclosures on your website
  • We process data in accordance with applicable data protection laws

9. Service Availability

9.1 Uptime

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

9.2 Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes that affect your use.

9.3 Support

Support levels vary by plan. Enterprise customers receive priority support with defined response times. Other plans receive best-effort support via email.

10. Termination

10.1 By You

You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time through the dashboard settings. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed.

10.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Fail to pay subscription fees
  • Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
  • Use the Service in a way that harms us or other users

10.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may delete your data after a reasonable retention period. Provisions that should survive termination (such as limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT
  • UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM
  • WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kroonen AI and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Content you upload to the Service
  • AI-generated content displayed on your website

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.

For disputes under $10,000, we encourage resolution through our support channels before pursuing legal action.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us.
  • Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.
  • Force Majeure: We are not liable for delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our control.
